Here at Dog Games, I love dog enrichment toys, especially puzzles – if you haven’t already worked that out from my brand. We have one of the largest selections of quality dog and cat puzzles. We try to make sure we only stock games worth buying, not the cheap Kmart toys that fall apart after a couple of months.
There’s nothing my two boys Atlas and Ares (who you’ll see below) love more than pulling out a dog puzzle to stimulate their brains and work for their food. Here’s a selection of their favourite dog puzzles.
On this page:
1. Dog Brick – Nina Ottosson
My number 1 brand is anything Nina Ottosson. This game Dog Brick was the first puzzle toy I ever bought and it’s still a favourite. It’s a great game to get started with and suits almost any dog breed. It has multiple different components that can be pulled out (so don’t stress if your dog is rough with play) to reveal treats. Below is some footage of Ares having a play.
- Durable
- Easy cleaning with soapy water
- Many different levels to alter the difficulty
- Can be used with wet or dry food
2. Buster Activity Snuffle Mat
Looking for a snuffle mat that takes things to the next level? Kruuse has created the buster snuffle mat range. These are great fun because you can mix and match different treat-hiding activities. Which gives your dog a variety.
- Alter the difficulty to suit your pup
- Dry food only
- Option to buy more activities
- Good slow feeder option
You can shop the whole variety of components for the snuffle mate here and the starter kit comes with 3 activities.
3. Mazee Slow Feeder Puzzle Ball – Planet Dog
Looking for a puzzle toy that rolls? This will fit a whole cup of food in it and spills kibble as the ball rolls along. It’s great fun! Below is a photo of Ares using, I think I need to get some better photos!
- Slow-feeding and treat-dispensing ball with a maze
- Durable Orbee-Tuff material with no BPAs or phthalates
- Pliable translucent outer layer
- 12.7cm Diameter
- Easy to clean – fill with hot water, shake and rinse with fresh water. Or throw in the top rack of the dishwasher
- Fits small treats or kibble
- Green & Raspberry red
4. Dog Hide n’ Slide – Nina Ottosson
I like to describe this toy as a quick set-up and clean-up puzzle. I find it’s a great option to pull out quickly. It’s also suited to my older boy Atlas who isn’t a huge thinker with puzzles and prefers to shove or bash his way through the puzzle. (Still trying to teach him a bit of patience slowly!)
Once again, it has the same great Nina Ottoson features:
- Durable
- Easy cleaning with warm water & soap
- Many different levels to alter the difficulty
- Can be used with wet or dry food
5. Twister Puzzle – Nina Ottosson
Looking for a bit more of a challenge? This one is called the Twister Puzzle and is a level 3 puzzle. I find Ares my younger and smarter (Sorry Atlas) can solve this one ok. However, Atlas really struggles, and he ends up going for the bashing method instead. I really need to spend a bit more time teaching him how this one works.
You can of course make this puzzle easier by removing some of the blue sliders or adding rope or string to the white locks to give dogs another way of unlocking the compartments.
Once again, it has the same great Nina Ottoson features:
- Durable
- Dishwasher safe
- Many different levels to alter the difficulty
- Can be used with wet or dry food
But generally, if you’re dog is a smarty pants, this one is an awesome option.
6. Wobble Bowl – Nina Ottosson
I know, 1 more Nina Puzzle cause honestly they are the best quality and have an awesome variety. This one also is a great option for a slow feeder. It’s a great option if you want to sit back and relax rather than spending time teaching a dog how to complete a puzzle.
Here are some action shots below!
7. SPIN UFO – Dream House
Looking for a toy that requires less supervision? This one is an awesome puzzle and also a slow feeder. I absolutely love this toy and use it as a daily feeder for breakfast when I’m in a rush out the door.
- Easy to alter difficulty levels
- Durable
- Easy to clean
- Wasn’t frustrating for Ares to use
- Can be used with wet or dry food
- Can alter how much it spins
- Suction cap to stick to the floor
